Confessions of a Dreamchaser

July 13, 2012

“If you ain’t got a dream, you ain’t got nothing.” – Meek Mill (Big Dreams)

One thing I’ve learned as I’ve grown and matured over the last few years is that every now and then life has a way of knocking you down and in some cases, it’ll place so much weight on you, that it’s a struggle to get up again.

Through it all, you have to hold on to your dreams and do everything  in your power to make that dream a reality.

Hello, my name is Jessica, and I’m a dreamchaser. I have been all my life and the chase has only gotten more aggressive as I age.

My dream is to make an impact in the entertainment world, specifically in the State of Mississippi. My safe choice was making that impact as a publicist. I figured that I could help aspiring entertainers generate publicity and eventually go on to make a name for themselves in their respective industries.

PR is a passion of mine, but it isn’t what I’m most passionate about. My true, undeniable passion is writing, which isn’t as safe as a public relations career.

I know, for a factwithout a doubt, that God created me to be in the media industry. Despite the fact that I live in an area that has little to no entertainment media, I have never ever lost sight of my dream to work in entertainment.

When I created this blog, it was for fun. Now, I see it as a business opportunity that is going to allow me to chase my dreams and eventually reach a higher level of success.

Beginning August 1, you will notice more posts geared toward Mississippi and the huge pool of talent here. I’ll still write posts like this one and about celebrities, television and all that other good stuff (so don’t panic) but I have to chase this dream and make it happen.

I’m not getting any younger, LOL!

I used to make excuses for why I was changing career paths and wanted to move…but the reality is I have been afraid.

I’ve been afraid to take this risk – publicly – and end up with a bunch of regrets and shoulda, coulda,  wouldas when I’m telling my grandkids about my life.

That fear will no longer hold me hostage. So what if it takes awhile to build my readership? So what if people don’t “get it” or don’t want to support me? So what if I have a lot to learn?

I’m ready for the ride and I’m in the driver’s seat – not anyone else.

I’m excited about the things I have in store and I hope that you will spread the word and send new readers my way.

Chase your dreams people!

Do you have a dream? What is it? How are you planning to make it happen?

Vicki, thank you so much for reading. I know your son and I’m positive he’ll be making his mark as well. He is very, very driven and dedicated. Keep in touch with me, maybe we can collaborate on a project or something as you write more. :-)
