Los Angeles porn industry veteran Mr. Marcus has admitted to covering up test results after contracting syphilis and causing an outbreak that temporarily shut down the industry.

Marcus says that on July 11 he went to see his personal doctor after feeling sick and after receiving STD test results the next day, he was told that he had contracted syphilis. The doctor gave him a penicillin shot and advised him to abstain from having sex.

Marcus claims that his personal doctor doesn’t know what he does for a living (I find that hard to believe) and he felt “confident” after taking the shot that he was OK.

Although syphilis was still in his system 11 days after testing, Mr. Marcus shot a sex scene with other performers. He says the producer of the scene didn’t check his name in the porn industry testing database Talent Testing Service (TTS), he instead just asked for physical proof of his results.

Marcus says that he pulled up the results on his phone, only showing where he had been cleared for HIV, gonorrhea and chlamydia. “You didn’t see the syphilis part because of the way I showed it,” he told AVN.

Most syphilis cases occur in individuals between the ages of 20 and 39, with the highest rate among women between the ages of 20 and 24. Syphilis is passed from person to person through direct contact with a syphilis sore.

Yesterday and today, he tweeted:

Mr. Marcus has been in the porn industry for 18 years.
